A Sunset Walk-About...Again

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Again, I love the old, quaint churches surrounded by skyscrapers...hoping they are never leveled in the name of progress.

I always remember the "Brownstones" in old Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire movies.  We passed by a whole row of them...love them...they really are brown.

Found a favorite pizza place...cheap and the best ever.  $4.59 for one slice...yummy and close to home. To top it off, he found his favorite Seagrams Ginger Ale.

Crossed the street to explore cultural opportunities of the Met, the NY Philharmonic, and the NY Ballet.  Each of the major arts has its own building/monument which surround this beautiful square and fountain.

We really are literally across the street from the world's cultural center..orchestra, ballet, theater and opera!!   Unfortunately, the tickets are sky high (Swan Lake is performing tonight at $198 per ticket); however, another tender mercy occurred today.  I met a sister in the temple dressing room who works at the NY Philharmonic, and she told me about $20 tickets available (called Open Rehearsals) about twice a month to sit in on the dress rehearsals of the NY Philharmonic Orchestra at 9:45 am.  The only rub is that we are unavailable to attend until we rotate to the afternoon temple schedule in December...we'll be there then!
